Legend had it that two tribes once lived together, but the relationship between the tribes was not in harmony which resulted in frequent conflicts and disputes. A couple from the two tribes fell in love with each other. The boy's name was K'Dam, and the girl B'ri. Their love was as beautiful as a branch of orchird and as sweet as the cool stream. They were however not destined to be together or lead a happily ever life. One day, the boy decided to leave the village and went deep Into the forest out of sadness for not being able to live with the girl he loved. Hearing the news, B'ri hurriedly went after K'Dam where she searched in vain for him passing through forests after forests, streams after streams, and fields after fields. She kept looking for K'Dam, but only found a bird sadly moaning for her fate. B'ri cried for what seemed like an eternity and kept on waiting, but saw no sight of her lover. After a long time, her tears turned into a large waterfall. Chau Ma people therefore named the waterfall Damb'ri which means "expecting". The majestic and stunning waterfall then became a testament to the girl of Chau Ma ethnic group's faithful love.
