The Nguyen kings gave preference to giving the court music a special status as the official music of the court, thereby formalizing it as a symbol of authority and the longevity of the dynasty. The Elegant music has part of the ritual process become an essential and every year it is performed during the nearly 100 different ceremonies. In addition, Hue court music is considered as a channel for conveying Vietnamese philosophical ideas and aspects of the universe.
