Bai choi singing is an important form of culture and entertainment in the village community. The performance of bai choi singing is considered an environment for practice and art creativity, while helping to preserve folk art, performance style as well as cultural values of each region. With the preservation of knowledge about folklore through games and performances, bai choi singing is an important activity handling down educational value to the younger generation.

On December 7, 2017, at the 12 Intergovernmental Committee's Meeting on the Protection of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Jeju (South Korea), the art of bai choi singing in Central Vietnam was officially recognized by UNESCO as the intangible Cultural Heritage of humanity.
