Vietnam Golf Tour With Non-Golfers: How Group Size Changes Vehicles, Carts and Real Rates

A Vietnam golf tour with non-golfers is priced by the number of people in the party, not by the number of players. On the Da Nang programme, the transfer between a city hotel and Ba Na Hills Golf Club is quoted per vehicle — USD 57.83 for a 7-seat car, USD 76.59 for a 16-seat coach and USD 94.70 for a 29-seat bus — so a party of two pays about USD 28.92 each for the same ride that costs a party of seven about USD 10.94 each. Green fee, caddie fee and a shared cart are charged per player: USD 121.30 for 18 holes at Ba Na Hills in September 2026, confirmed until 30 September.

The practical consequence is that adding a non-golfing spouse, parent or colleague usually costs far less than travellers expect, because that person shares a vehicle and a room that are already paid for and only skips the per-player golf charges. The one place party size does bite is the flight: four players make a natural group, five cannot play together, and an odd number can attract a cart charge because carts are shared two players to a cart.

Rates read from en.tgroup.vn on 9 September 2026: golf-package category page, The Central Area category page and the Ba Na Hills Golf Club page. Figures are display rates on those pages and may change.

How does party size change what you actually pay?

Two cost lines behave in opposite ways. Per-player charges — green fee, caddie fee, shared cart — stay flat no matter how many people travel. Per-vehicle charges fall sharply as the party grows, then jump back up the moment the group outgrows one vehicle. The table below applies the published Ba Na Hills transfer rates to each party size; TGROUP allocates a 7-seat car to parties of one to three, a 16-seat coach to four to seven and a 29-seat bus from eight upward, because suitcases and golf bags take the space a headcount alone does not show.

▸ Per-person figures are the published vehicle rate divided by the party size, not a separate published price. ▸ Course rules published by TGROUP for this club: a party that is not a full group of four may be joined with other players at no extra charge, five players cannot play in one flight, and an odd number may attract a cart charge because one cart carries two players.

What a green fee covers, and what it does not

The published rate at Ba Na Hills covers green fee, caddie fee and a half cart — a cart shared two players to a cart. Caddie tips are not included and run to roughly USD 15 per 18 holes. A private cart is a separate optional line at USD 19.49, and club rental is USD 41.15. For rates outside the confirmed window, the page marks the figure as indicative and confirms it 30 days before play.

Package rates, and the line that matters for mixed groups

The nine golf packages on en.tgroup.vn all bundle a 5-star hotel, breakfast, rounds of golf and private transport. The Da Nang 4-day / 3-night programme states its own conditions plainly: a minimum of 2 adults, a room shared by 2 guests, a 7-seat private car for a group of 2 guests, and the note that vehicles move and price details may change depending on the number of guests booked. That last sentence is the whole subject of this article written into a booking condition.

What research says about travel party size

Three peer-reviewed studies bear directly on how a mixed golf party should be planned. They are summarised here from their published abstracts; the conclusions belong to their authors, not to TGROUP.

Su, Cheng & Huang (2021)

Journal of Travel Research 60(8), DOI 10.1177/0047287520966384

Smaller tour groups reported higher perceived value and higher overall satisfaction than larger ones. Perceived value fully mediated the relationship, and group familiarity weakened the size effect — a party who already know each other are less affected by being numerous.

Thrane & Farstad (2011)

Tourism Management 32(1):46–52, DOI 10.1016/j.tourman.2009.11.002

Length of stay raised spending at a diminishing rate, and the relationship between travel party size and expenditure was convex rather than linear — cost per person falls, then flattens and turns.

Liao, Zheng & Lin (2022)

Annals of Tourism Research vol. 93, PII S0160738322000251

Proposed a joining and forking strategy that designs deliberate time apart and time together for family or friendship groups with conflicting preferences, tested on 50 travel groups in Kulangsu, China, and outperforming five baselines.

TGROUP observation

The convex cost curve is visible in our own rate sheet. Per-person transfer cost falls from USD 28.92 at two people to USD 10.94 at seven, then rises to USD 11.84 at eight when the party moves up to a 29-seat bus. In other words the cheapest party is the one that fills a vehicle without spilling into the next one, which is why we quote parties of seven and parties of eight quite differently. Su and colleagues also give a reason to keep the party small for reasons other than cost, and Liao and colleagues describe exactly what we build for mixed groups: golfers and non-golfers apart in the morning, together for lunch and the evening.

Groups that mix golfers and non-golfers

The combinations below are the ones we quote most often on a vietnam golf tour with non-golfers. The pattern is consistent: a non-golfer is close to free on the transport and accommodation side and simply absent from the per-player side, until the party crosses a vehicle threshold.

PartyVehicleFlightsWhat to watch
2 golfers + 2 non-golfers7 seatsOne flight of two, likely pairedNon-golfers add no per-player charge; the car and rooms are already booked.
4 golfers + 1 non-golfer16 seatsOne full flightThe fifth seat costs nothing extra on a 16-seat coach; only the room split changes.
4 golfers + 4 non-golfers16 seatsOne full flightThe strongest case for a joining and forking day: golf in the morning, the group together from lunch.
6 golfers + 2 non-golfers29 seatsTwo flights — 4 and 2, or 3 and 3Transfer per person rises at eight people; a second 16-seat coach is sometimes cheaper.
8 golfers + 4 non-golfers29 seatsTwo full flightsAsk for a single tee-time block so the party finishes together.

Six things to settle before you book

Confirm the headcount, not the player countThe vehicle, the rooms and the tee times are all set from it.
Say who is not playing, and whenA non-golfer left in the itinerary as a player is charged as one.
Check the odd numberFive cannot play in one flight; seven may attract a cart charge.
Ask which rate is confirmedSeptember 2026 is confirmed until 30/09; later dates are indicative until 30 days before play.
Budget the tips separatelyCaddie tips are roughly USD 15 per 18 holes and are not in the package.
Avoid Monday and Tuesday at Ba Na HillsThe course is closed; plan the sightseeing day there.

How to book a mixed-group vietnamgolftour

01

Tell us the party

Total headcount, how many play, and the dates. That is enough for a first quotation.

02

We hold the tee times

The booking form for Ba Na Hills accepts 1 to 16 people. Rates confirmed at booking are honoured even if the course later raises them.

03

We confirm vehicle and rooms

Vehicle class follows the headcount with luggage and golf bags, not the headcount alone.

Send us the headcount — we will send back the vehicle, the tee times and the price

Tell us how many people are travelling and how many are playing. TGROUP quotes the whole party, non-golfers included, with the vehicle class and cart arrangement written out.

Questions we are asked most often

Can a non-golfer join a golf package?Yes. A non-golfer shares the vehicle and the room and simply does not carry the per-player charges — green fee, caddie fee and cart. The package minimum on the Da Nang programme is 2 adults in total, not 2 players.
We are five. Can we play together? No. Five players cannot play in one flight, so the party is split into a four and a one, or a three and a two. The one or two are usually joined with other players at no extra charge.
Why does the price per person rise when we add an eighth person?Because eight people move the party from a 16-seat coach at USD 76.59 to a 29-seat bus at USD 94.70. Per person the transfer goes from USD 10.94 to USD 11.84.
Is the September rate final? The Ba Na Hills 18-hole rate of USD 121.30 is marked confirmed and valid until 30 September 2026. October to December 2026 and January to March 2027 are shown as indicative at USD 134.29 and confirmed 30 days before play.
What is not in the package price?Sightseeing tickets and entrance fees, hotel services, caddie tips of roughly USD 15 per 18 holes, massage tips and personal expenses outside the programme.

Designing and running the ground product

Party size is an operations question before it is a pricing question: it decides vehicle rotation, how many caddies are briefed, how a restaurant seats the group and how a resort staggers check-in. Our sister company TOUCH consults on and operates exactly this layer — hotels, restaurants, resorts and leisure venues — and the two teams share what they learn about how real groups move through a day.
