Description

The Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son) are five limestone and marble peaks between Da Nang and Hoi An, a special national heritage site with caves, old pagodas and viewpoints over Non Nuoc beach. Thuy Son, the largest peak and the only one with an entrance fee, holds Tam Thai and Linh Ung pagodas, Huyen Khong cave with its sunlit skylight and the Vong Hai Dai sea viewpoint; at its foot lies the 300-year-old Non Nuoc stone-carving village.

TGROUP insider tips

Go at 07:00 – 09:00 or after 16:00 for cooler air and fewer people; between 10:00 and 15:00 the tour buses arrive at gates 1 and 2. Huyen Khong cave, however, is at its most beautiful when sunlight pours through the skylight at about 10:00 – 14:00, so accept a little crowd if photos matter most. The easiest route is the elevator up at gate 2 and the 156 stone steps down to gate 1; wear grippy shoes because steps and cave floors get slippery in the rainy season, and carry water since prices on the mountain are high. Cover shoulders and knees in the pagodas. In the stone village you can bargain, but the carvings are heavy – TGROUP suggests only small pieces if you are flying home.

Combine in one day

On the same day you can also visit Da Nang Museum (city centre) or My Son Sanctuary (half-day trip). Need a full-day plan? TGROUP advises free of charge.
