Description

Bay Mau Coconut Forest in Cam Thanh is a water-coconut (nipa palm) forest of over 100 hectares just a few kilometres from Hoi An's old town, where visitors ride round bamboo basket boats through green channels and watch fishermen spin their boats and cast nets. A wartime base in the past, it is now the most booked attraction in Hoi An among international visitors, with thousands of tickets a day in peak season.

TGROUP insider tips

The best slots are 07:00 – 09:00 or 15:00 – 17:00 with soft light and fewer big groups; 10:00 – 14:00 is both hot and crowded. If you travel with elderly guests or small children, tell the rower in advance to skip the spinning show and take a quieter channel with less music. A tip of VND 20,000 – 50,000 per boat is plenty and not compulsory. Touts gather at the entrance, so TGROUP books boats at a fixed pier at the posted price. The best months are February to August; from October to December flood water turns muddy and some days are closed. Always wear the life jacket and keep your phone in a dry bag during the show.

Combine in one day

On the same day you can also visit My Son Sanctuary (half-day trip from Hoi An) or Da Nang Museum. Need a full-day plan? TGROUP advises free of charge.
