The folk arts of Southern amateur music (also called amateur folk music) is a typical folk art form of Vietnam, formed and developed in the late 19th century. The folk arts of Southern amateur music is a type of cultural activities uniting the community, reflecting the feelings and emotions and suitable for the industrious, generous, open minded and courageous lifestyle of the Southern people.

Through the practice of amateur music, other social practices such as festivals, oral culture, handicrafts, etc. are also preserved and promoted. In 2013, the folk arts of Southern folk music was recognized by UNESCO as the intangible Cultural Heritage of humanity.
