Vietnam Golf Travel Insurance: What to Check Before You Book

Vietnam golf travel insurance is not compulsory for entry or for playing any course in Vietnam, and TGROUP does not sell insurance. What matters before you book is knowing which risks a policy should cover and which ones are already handled by the booking terms you agree to with TGROUP. Cancellation, for example, is governed by a published fee scale: full refund 30 days or more before play, 10% from 21–30 days, 30% from 11–20 days, 50% from 6–10 days and 100% within 5 days, counted in working days.

To size a policy you need the amount actually at risk. As displayed on the TGROUP category pages on 5 September 2026, golf packages run US$410.73–US$840.13 and green fees across 75 listed courses run US$45.09–US$257.64, before flights and personal spending.

Insurance is optional, but it covers what a tour operator cannot

No Vietnamese immigration rule or golf club requires proof of insurance. The reason to hold a policy is different: theft or loss of valuables and cash, and accidents during free time, sit outside a tour operator’s responsibility. TGROUP also states that we are not liable when a change to your inbound flight makes the round impossible.

A policy therefore fills a defined gap. Everything inside the booking itself — tee time, rate, cancellation, tournament disruption — is covered by the terms described below.

Two items travellers most often find missing

For a golf trip, check two clauses before anything else. The first is loss of or damage to personal effects: you are travelling with clubs and a bag that are handled repeatedly at airports and between hotel and course. Complimentary policies attached to a card or a ticket frequently exclude this cover, which is also the most commonly claimed.

The second is flight delay. If the aircraft is delayed and your cover period ends before you get home, the claim can fail on timing alone. Set the policy period with a day of margin on each side of the itinerary rather than matching it exactly.

Size the policy against the real cost of the trip

Use published prices rather than an estimate. The figures below are the rates displayed on the TGROUP category pages on 5 September 2026.

Add international flights and personal spending to reach the amount you would lose in a worst case, then choose the cover level against that total.

Weather is settled by the course, not by your policy

Rain in Vietnam usually arrives as a short squall, so rounds are rarely cancelled and play normally continues. If you decide on your own not to go to the course, no refund is issued. In normal weather conditions, a round stopped for personal reasons is not refunded either.

A weather cancellation must be approved by the golf course itself. Follow the on-site manager’s instructions, then contact TGROUP: once the club issues the refund invoice, we process the refund. Insurance is not involved in this sequence.

The published cancellation scale, and the protections that work in your favour

This scale is the figure a “trip cancellation” benefit would need to match.

The cancellation period is calculated on working days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Cancellations must be sent to TGROUP directly or by email and confirmed by us; we do not accept cancellations by telephone.

Three clauses work the other way. Once a booking is confirmed, a later increase in the course rate does not change the price you booked. If a tournament or major event forces a tee time to be cancelled or moved, TGROUP arranges an alternative time or date, or refunds in full. And where a course is repairing holes, play is routed to alternate holes so the full round is completed. For some courses the final rate is confirmed 30 days before play; before that an indicative rate applies, and some courses do not hold tee times in advance.

Documents and the items outside our responsibility

Theft or loss of valuables and cash, and accidents during free time, remain outside the operator’s responsibility — this is precisely the space a policy should occupy. Check your passport validity well ahead of departure, and confirm current entry and visa conditions with the Vietnam Immigration Department, since these are set by the authorities and change from time to time.
