Travel guide
Looking for a clear Da Nang golf guide rather than another list of hotel-brochure adjectives? Da Nang has become the most convenient golf base in Vietnam: four championship courses within 90 minutes of one international airport, a long beach to recover on, and Hoi An twenty minutes down the coast for the non-golfers in your group. The four courses I compare here are Ba Na Hills Golf Club, Montgomerie Links, BRG Legend Danang Golf Resort and Laguna Golf Lang Co. They are very different in character and in price, and choosing the wrong combination is the most common mistake I see visiting groups make.
I run TGROUP Trade & Travel JSC, a licensed international tour operator based in Vietnam, and Da Nang is the destination my team books more than any other for Korean and international golf groups. The green fees in this guide are the rates shown on our own booking pages at the time of writing (October 2026), rounded down to a reference figure; course facts come from the course pages on en.tgroup.vn and the clubs' published information; driving times are what our own drivers report on a normal day. Where something is my opinion rather than a fact, I say so.

Greater Da Nang technically has more golf than this (Hoiana Shores and Vinpearl Nam Hoi An are an hour south, Golden Sands is near Hue), but for a first or second trip these four are the ones I would build an itinerary around. The table shows the facts that actually decide where you play: who designed it, how far it is from the airport, and what you will pay.
| Course | Designer / opened | Holes | From DAD airport | Reference green fee* | Style |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ba Na Hills Golf Club | Luke Donald, 2016 | 18, par 72 | approx. 35 km, 45 to 60 min | from US$135 | Mountain foothills, floodlit night golf |
| Montgomerie Links Golf Club | Colin Montgomerie, 2009 | 18, par 72 | approx. 20 km, 30 min | from US$110 | Inland links, sandy dunes |
| BRG Legend Danang Golf Resort | Greg Norman (Dunes, 2010) and Nicklaus Design (2019) | 36 (2 x 18) | approx. 12 km, 20 to 25 min | from US$135 | Seaside dunes links plus a modern parkland |
| Laguna Golf Lang Co | Sir Nick Faldo, 2013 | 18, par 71 | approx. 60 km, 75 to 90 min | from US$95 | Ocean, rice paddies and jungle in one routing |
*Reference rates as of October 2026 for 18 holes on a weekday, taken from en.tgroup.vn and rounded down; they vary by season, weekend and exchange rate. Caddie fee and a shared cart (two players per cart) are included on all four courses; caddie tips of about US$15 per 18 holes are not. Message us on WhatsApp for a dated, written quotation.
Ba Na Hills Golf Club: the showpiece
Luke Donald's only course in Asia sits in the foothills below the Ba Na cable car, about an hour west of the beach. It is the course visiting golfers photograph most, and for good reason: wide, rolling fairways framed by mountains, big elevation changes on the back nine and a clubhouse that feels like a mountain lodge. It is also the only one of the four with full floodlighting, so a late afternoon tee time that runs into night golf is a realistic option in the hot months.
Two practical points from our booking desk. First, the club closes every Monday and Tuesday for maintenance, which surprises a lot of self-booking visitors; plan it for Wednesday to Sunday. Second, the drive from the beach hotels is the longest of the "city" courses, so I usually pair Ba Na with a free afternoon or the cable car rather than a second round the same day. In my opinion this is the course to play if you only have one round in Da Nang and you want the one you will talk about at home. Our earlier Ba Na Hills feature has more on the layout.

Montgomerie Links: the honest links test
Montgomerie Links was the first of the modern Da Nang courses and it still plays like a proper links: sandy soil, wind-shaped dunes, firm run-offs and greens that punish a timid approach. It is not long by modern standards, which is exactly why mid-handicap groups enjoy it, but when the afternoon sea breeze gets up it becomes a very different course. The location on the coastal road halfway to Hoi An is the most convenient of the four if your group is mixing golf with sightseeing: non-golfers can be in Hoi An's old town in twenty minutes.
The on-site Montgomerie Links Hotel and Villas makes this the easiest stay-and-play option in the region; our stay-and-play rate for the hotel plus a round is listed from about US$205. If your group plays early and eats well, this is the course where I would book the 6:30 tee and have lunch on the terrace. Read our Montgomerie Links profile for hole-by-hole notes.

BRG Legend Danang Golf Resort: 36 holes, 20 minutes from the airport
This is the course most of our groups play on arrival day, simply because it is so close to both the airport and the beach hotels along Vo Nguyen Giap street. The original Greg Norman Dunes Course is a true seaside links with blown-out bunkers and fescue-style rough; the newer Nicklaus Course is wider, greener and more forgiving, with water in play rather than sand. Having both on one site means a 36-hole day is possible without moving the car, and it means a group of mixed abilities can split: the low handicaps to the Dunes, everyone else to the Nicklaus.
The rate on our site is listed under the resort's name; the two courses can be priced differently depending on season, so ask us which course the quotation covers. In my experience the Dunes Course is the better golf and the Nicklaus Course is the better first-day course when you have just stepped off a long flight.

Laguna Golf Lang Co: the best value, and the longest drive
Laguna is the course visiting golfers underestimate. Sir Nick Faldo routed it through three landscapes: holes along the beach, holes across working rice paddies and holes cut into jungle at the foot of the mountains, with the Hai Van range as a backdrop. It is a par 71 that rewards placement over power, and it is immaculately kept because it sits inside the Laguna Lang Co resort with Banyan Tree and Angsana. At a reference rate from US$95 it is also the least expensive of the four on our site, which is why I recommend it so often for a second or third round.
The catch is distance. From the Da Nang beach hotels it is a 75 to 90 minute drive through the Hai Van tunnel, so a day trip means a long day. The better plan, in my view, is one or two nights at Angsana or Banyan Tree with a round each morning: our stay-and-play rates start from about US$120 at Angsana and US$265 at Banyan Tree, which includes the hotel and the golf. Hue's imperial city is forty minutes further north if you want culture on the non-golf afternoon. Our Laguna Lang Co profile goes deeper on the resort.

Groups rarely agree on what they want from a round, so here is how I match the four courses to the people who ask us. Treat it as an experienced opinion, not a ranking.

This is the shape of the Da Nang golf package we sell most often to private groups of four to twelve. It is built around drive times, not around squeezing in as many rounds as possible, and it leaves the non-golfers with something to do every day. Our packaged 4-day, 3-night Da Nang golf tour on the site starts from about US$695 per golfer including the rounds, hotel and private transfers; the itinerary below is the same logic.
If you have five days, I would add the BRG Dunes Course as a second BRG round on Day 1 or Day 5 rather than driving further afield. If you have only three days, drop Laguna and keep the other three; it is the distance, not the course, that makes it the one to cut. For a mixed golf and culture week combining Da Nang with Hue or Hoi An, see our Da Nang golf tour hub and the Vietnam golf tour overview.

Central Vietnam has a different calendar from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and it is the reason Da Nang is so good from February to May when the south is at its hottest and the north is grey. Based on the public climate record and our own cancellations log, this is how I would read the year.
Two more things from our booking desk. Several courses only confirm the final rate about 30 days before play, so a quotation given earlier is indicative until then; we tell you which is which in writing. And in normal weather, a round stopped for personal reasons is not refunded by the club, which is one reason I steer groups away from fixed October dates. Our Da Nang green fee comparison breaks the pricing down course by course, and the Vietnam green fees by city guide puts Da Nang against Hanoi, Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City.

TGROUP does not run joined or shared-group golf tours, and we do not sell mass-market budget packages. Every Da Nang booking we take is a private group: your own vehicle and driver for the whole stay, tee times confirmed to you in writing with the course's own confirmation, and a bilingual coordinator (Korean, Vietnamese and English) on the phone from arrival to departure.
The honest cost of that is about 10 to 20 percent more than a joined-group package for the same courses, mostly in the vehicle and the coordinator. What you get for it is control: you leave when your group is ready, you play the courses you chose in the order that suits your flights, and nobody is waiting on a stranger's foursome. For families, friends' groups and company outings that is usually the difference between a good trip and a great one.
If a joined tour is what your budget needs, I would rather tell you so than sell you something that does not fit; there are operators in Da Nang who do that well.
How many golf courses are there in Da Nang?
Four clubs within 90 minutes of the city: Ba Na Hills (18 holes), Montgomerie Links (18), BRG Legend Danang (36 holes on two courses) and Laguna Golf Lang Co (18), 90 holes in total. Hoiana Shores and Vinpearl Nam Hoi An, about an hour south, are often added on longer trips.
Which is the best golf course in Da Nang?
In my opinion Ba Na Hills for the experience and the BRG Dunes Course for the pure golf. Montgomerie Links is the most convenient and Laguna Lang Co the best value. Our ranking of Vietnam's best courses places all four nationally.
How much does golf cost in Da Nang?
Reference weekday rates on our site in October 2026 run from about US$95 at Laguna to US$135 at Ba Na Hills and BRG Legend, with caddie and shared cart included. Weekends, holidays and peak season cost more; message us for a dated quotation.
Is Ba Na Hills Golf Club open every day?
No. The club closes on Mondays and Tuesdays. Plan Ba Na for Wednesday to Sunday and put a closer course on the other days.
Can I play night golf in Da Nang?
Yes, at Ba Na Hills, which has full floodlighting. It is the most comfortable way to play in June to August, when afternoon temperatures pass 33 degrees.
How far are the Da Nang golf courses from the airport?
BRG Legend about 20 to 25 minutes, Montgomerie Links about 30 minutes, Ba Na Hills 45 to 60 minutes and Laguna Lang Co 75 to 90 minutes by private car. Our airport-to-course transfer guide has the details.
What is the best time of year for a Da Nang golf package?
February to May. June to August is hot but dry and works with early tee times; October and November are the wettest months and the ones I would avoid for a fixed-date trip.
