Location

Description

Korea’s KTX is fast, but some parties are not suited to the train: golf bags and heavy luggage, elderly guests or small children, a wish to stop for photographs along the way, or simply not wanting to haul suitcases through a station and hail a taxi at the other end. TGROUP TRADE & TRAVEL arranges private chauffeured vehicles for intercity journeys across Korea.

Popular routes

Route Notes
Seoul – Gangneung (east coast) Roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by road. The route best suited to a private car, with worthwhile stops along the way and guests often returning the same day or staying one night.
Seoul – Busan A long run of about 4.5 to 5.5 hours by road, against 2 hours 15 to 2 hours 40 by KTX. A private car suits larger parties or a journey broken at Gyeongju or Daegu.
Seoul – Jeonju About 3 hours by road, usually combined with the Jeonju Hanok Village as a day trip or overnight stay.
Seoul – Sokcho and Seoraksan The north-eastern mountain route, at its finest in autumn; a private car helps because public transport inside the national park is sparse.
Custom routes Designed on request, including multi-day itineraries across several provinces.

How it is arranged

  • Intercity journeys are priced on distance and number of days, not on the hourly allowance used for in-city full-day charter.
  • Long runs usually keep the same vehicle and chauffeur out and back; for multi-day stays you can retain the car or book one direction only.
  • Expressway tolls in Korea are substantial on long routes – TGROUP states this clearly in the quotation.
  • On journeys over four hours the itinerary includes rest stops in line with Korean driving-hours rules.

Who this service is for

  • Golf parties travelling with bags to another province – effectively impractical by train.
  • Multi-generation families heading to Gangneung or Sokcho who want flexible stops.
  • Corporate delegations with business in the provinces needing a car throughout.
  • Groups who want to stop for photographs along the way, which the KTX cannot offer.
  • Travellers covering several provinces in one trip without repeatedly changing transport.

Our honest advice

Seoul to Busan takes about 2 hours 15 to 2 hours 40 by KTX against 4.5 to 5.5 hours by road. For a small party with light luggage the train is clearly the better call – and we are happy to arrange a car to meet you at Busan Station instead of driving the whole way. The Seoul to Gangneung and Sokcho routes are the opposite: the time difference against the train is modest, there is plenty worth stopping for, and you will want a car once you arrive anyway. A seasonal note: during the autumn colour peak in late October and early November, the roads to Seoraksan are heavily congested at weekends, so travel midweek or start very early.
